AGENTS USED IN CHEMOTHERAPY OF CANCER

Abstract
|
|
|
The major drugs used in chemotherapy of neoplastic diseases were reviewed briefly. Despite an intense search for specific anticancer agent, no drugs have been discovered that exhibit a selective effect on cancer cells.
However, much progress has been made and there are some drugs currently used in cancer therapy that may alleviate a certain type of cancer and prolong the lives of the patients with cancer. Emphasis was made on the theoretical basis for the use of drugs and the side actions of the major anticancer agents.
